Bi-Parting Driveway Gate in Rural Katy, TX

AMRI

20140806_152237A customer recently called us to inquire about a driveway gate.  The homes in her subdivision are beautiful, elegant homes that are set about 200 feet from the main road, on several acres of land.  Since the homes are set so far from the main street, it is difficult to see the street address.  The HOA remedied this by adding the street number to the white post and rail fence along the road; however, although this remedy made finding the street address a little easier, many drivers seem to miss the home they are searching for and use other resident’s driveways to turn around after passing their destination.  The customer has young children that often play in the yard and was concerned about their safety with strangers using her driveway as a turnaround point.

AMRI Fence directed the customer to the website so that she could determine which style best fit the vision she had.  The website showcases several basic designs options: the arch Top, Bell Top and Flat Top, each of which can be customized by adding or removing ornamental components such as finials, rings, scrolls, pickets, etc…

The customer selected the Carisbrooke model.  This gate features a double bell top with extended pickets on the top along with decorative finials on each picket.  She felt that this design would best compliment the style of her home giving that old world elegant look.  AMRI Fence designed the gate to fit her home.  Due to the width of the driveway, it was determined that the driveway gate would have to be a bi-parting gate, or split into two panels.  An added benefit to the bi-parting feature is that it adds a grand feel to the entrance of the property.

Once the customer felt that her vision for the driveway gate had been achieved, AMRI Fence assisted her in putting together the required HOA approval documentation.  AMRI provided drawings, specifications as well as a detailed scope of supply for the project which included a picture of the home with a CAD rendition of the gate superimposed on the picture.

Upon receipt of the HOA approval, AMRI Fence began construction by installing the driveway posts on either side of the driveway and running outdoor low voltage wiring from the house along the driveway.   The crew took exact measurements of the driveway between the posts and AMRI’s CAD designer subsequently generate detailed shop drawings required to fabricate the driveway gate.  Each gate is truly one of a kind since no two openings are the same.

The fabricator used the CAD drawings and created the driveway gate following the specifications.  The arches for the gate were rolled in the AMRI Fence’s shop and the frame and pickets were welded together in one day.  Once the gate fabrication is complete, the driveway gate was taken to a local galvanization facility where it is dipped in a zinc bath.  This process allows the entire gate, including the internal tubing and new welds to be coated and for the formation of the galvanized layer which protects the driveway gate frame from outdoor elements which cause rust.  The driveway gate surface was then prepared for painting and painted in AMRI’s paint booth.

It took about 2 to 3 weeks for the project to be completed from the time the contract was signed to the completed installation.  AMRI Fence brought their installation crew and mobile welding equipment to the home and welded the hinges for each gate panel to the previously installed gate posts.  The panels were then hung and adjusted and AMRI’s technician connected and then programmed the control board for the gate operator.

The customer was extremely satisfied with her experience with AMRI Fence.  She felt that the completed driveway gate added elegance and enhanced the curb appeal of her home.  She was also overjoyed with the prospect of her children playing safely in her front yard.  In addition, she particularly liked the fact the she was in complete control of the access to her property.

Driveway Gate and Entry Enclosure Create Stunning Courtyard for Cross Creek Ranch Home – Fulshear, TX

AMRI

A customer from the beautiful Cross Creek Ranch community in Fulshear, TX contacted AMRI Fence to help her create a safe enclosed area for her two small children to play.  She and her husband had recently purchased a new home in Fulshear and were going through the process of settling in and personalizing their new home.

20140821_121030

AMRI Fence directed her to their website to start their design process.   The website showcases several basic designs options: the Arch Top, Bell Top and Flat Top, each of which can be customized by adding or removing ornamental components such as finials, rings, scrolls, pickets, etc…  This information allowed the customer to narrow down her preferences and select the style she wanted for her home.  She selected the Lancaster style which features a double arch design with flush top and bottom and complimented her stunning home which featured a porte-a-cocher with an arched drive through.  The home also featured an area between the 2 car garage and 3rd car garage that could be enclosed to create an ideal courtyard for her kids to safely play, keeping them away from the street traffic and strangers.  As an added bonus, her home had a series of windows off of the breakfast area that would allow for supervision from inside very easy to accomplish.

Once the design of the driveway gate had been selected, AMRI Fence generated a drawing for the customer’s approval.  She signed the contract and submitted the paperwork to her HOA for approval along with AMRI Fence’s supplemental HOA documentation.

Upon HOA approval, AMRI Fence began the construction process by installing the driveway gate posts and then taking measurements of the opening between posts.  AMRI also ran low voltage wiring from the home to the driveway for the control box.  A CAD designer then generated detailed shop drawing for the fabrication of the driveway gate, walk-through gate and matching fence panels and then each component was custom fabricated, following the exact specifications of the shop drawings.  The driveway gate was then sent to local galvanization facility where it is dipped in a zinc bath.  This process coats the inside and outside of the fabricated components as well as the welds and protects the final product from the elements.   The installation team brought the driveway gate to home where they completed the installation by first welding the hinges in place and made the necessary adjustment to the driveway gate.  They then connected the wiring to the control box and programmed the controller.

The customer felt completely at ease through out the entire process.  She was extremely satisfied with the newly enclosed play area for her kids. She loves the fact that they are able to draw with sidewalk chalk and ride their scooters without her worrying about their safety.  It allows her to feel more secure in her home knowing that strangers will not have access to her side door.  As an added benefit, she enjoyed the stylish custom look that the gate added to her already stunning home.

AMRI Fence directed him to their website to start their design process.   The website showcases several basic designs options: the Arch Top, Bell Top and Flat Top, each of which can be customized by adding or removing ornamental components such as finials, rings, scrolls, pickets, etc…  This information allows the customer and AMRI Fence to establish a dialogue to create a custom and unique design.   The customer selected the San Marcos style of driveway gate with matching fencing.  This is a hybrid of the flat top and arch top design.  His design included rings between the two top rails and extended pickets with finials on each picket.

Custom Designed Driveway Gate in Upscale Katy Community

AMRI

The customer and his wife contacted AMRI Fence to implement their vision for a custom designed driveway gate for their home.  They had recently scaled down from a larger home to a single story cul-de-sac house in an

20140725_142249upscale Katy community.  They took a lot of pride in their home as evidenced by the perfectly manicured landscaping and exquisite curb appeal.  The couple had a very clear vision of the driveway gate that they wanted to enhance the look of their “dream retirement home”.   The couple had carefully considered many of the details of the project and knew exactly where they wanted the walk through gate, each posts to be set and the angle of the driveway gate.

AMRI Fence directed the couple to their website to start their design process.   The website showcases several basic designs options, including: the Arch Top, Bell Top and Flat Top, each of which can be customized by adding or removing ornamental iron components. AMRI Fence kept in close contact with the customer in order to help the customer reach a final design and sent revised drawings and proposals to the customer during this iterative design phase of the project.  The customer felt completely at ease with the process and confident that their vision was in good hands with AMRI Fence.

Initially, the customer wanted to have ornamental iron panels around the perimeter of his property; however this was not allowed by his HOA.  Instead, the couple decided to extend ornamental fencing from the existing fence and have the driveway gate in alignment with the front elevation of their home.  They selected the Carlisle PR style gate which features a double arch design with rings between the top two arches and pet bars at the lower section of the gate .

Once the contract was signed and the order placed, it took about 3 weeks for the job to be completed.  Towards the end of the installation period, the customer had to go overseas and was not able to personally monitor the

Upon completion of the project, the customer and his wife were overjoyed to see their vision come life.  Their “dream driveway gate” completed the elegant custom look that they envisioned for their home.  They felt as though their collaboration with AMRI Fence had been extremely successful and that their partner had gone beyond all of their expectations.

Double Arch Top Driveway Gate in Seven Meadows, Katy, TX

A customer recently closed on a beautiful home in Seven Meadows subdivision, located in Katy, TX.   Before closing and while under contract with the seller, the buyer contacted AMRI Fence to provide him a quote for a driveway gate for the home which features a porte-cochere.

Many people find that driveway gates are a great way to enclose the courtyard of a home with a porte-cochere feature.   These gates provide an excellent way of keeping children and pets in a defined area while discouraging others, from outside, from accessing the enclosed area of your home.  Driveway gates have the added benefit of creating a signature custom look to the elevation of your home.

In order to decide on what type of driveway gate he wanted, the customer first went to the AMRI Fence website to view the catalog of drawings of the various style of gates that are available.  He and his wife selected a double arched top gate named the “Donnington”.   This gate features a double arch, extended pickets, decorative finials and scroll embellishments along the top and bottom of the gate. Additionally, AMRI Fence supplied the customer with a matching panel to complete the enclosure along the driveway. This additional panel allows for a uniform and custom look completing the enclosure.

Once the style of driveway gate was determined, the customer completed the necessary paperwork to submit to the Seven Meadows HOA.   AMRI Fence helped with the submission process by providing the detailed specifications, scope of supply and a drawing of the selected gate.  The approval process took a couple of weeks; however, this is a common turn-around time for many HOA’s.  Upon receipt of his approval, the customer submitted to AMRI Fence the signed fencing contract and deposit so that construction could begin.

The first step was to set the posts on either side of the driveway. Next, the exact measurement of the opening was taken to begin the custom fabrication of the driveway gate. It took a couple of weeks for the gate to be completed and powder coated. The AMRI Fence installation team hung the driveway gate and matching panels, installed the automatic gate operator and ran low voltage wire to a 120 volt receptacle in the garage.

The customer had originally wanted that gate to be installed before a scheduled trip overseas. AMRI Fence was able to successfully work within his timeline and delivered the finished product before he left for India providing peace of mind for his trip.

Double Arch Top Driveway Gate in Riverstone, Missouri City, TX

AMRI

After several years of contemplating the installation of a new driveway gate for their Missouri City home, a potential customer contacted AMRI Fence, via its website, and submitted an online request for quotation.

Although the customer did not initially see the exact style of gate that he wanted on AMRI Fence’s website, he did note that AMRI is capable of fabricating driveway gates from drawings, pictures or descriptions.   His request for quotation included his name and address, his contact information and the approximate width of the driveway along with a note about his HOA’s requirements.

The Riverstone HOA, in Missouri City, has detailed specifications as to the design of all driveway gates that are installed within their community.  In a subsequent email, the customer sent this information to AMRI Fence along with several pictures of driveway gates that were in his neighborhood.  He also sent the exact width of the driveway as well as other relevant details that would allow AMRI Fence to prepare a detailed scope of supply and firm proposal.

Cordoba DwgSeveral emails were exchanged and a few phone calls were need to clarify certain details of this project; however, AMRI Fence was able to quickly develop a firm proposal that included the scope of supply, detailed specifications of the materials of construction, dimensional information related to the driveway gate and a drawing of the proposed driveway gate.  It’s important to note that a face to face meeting with the customer never took place but AMRI Fence did make a site visit to verify the information provided to us prior to submitting its firm proposal.

The customer submitted the proposal information to his HOA for approval along with a copy of his survey, which showed the proposed location of the driveway gate and the completed HOA application form.  Approximately two weeks later, the customer received approval from his HOA and AMRI Fence subsequently installed the gate posts and began fabrication of the driveway gate.  Once completed, AMRI Fence installers were sent to the home to hang the driveway gate, as well as install and program the gate operator.

The customer was excited that the finished product was exactly what he and his wife had had in mind when they began to look for their driveway gate.  They felt that they clean lines and details featured in the gate were an embellishment to the elevation of their already beautiful home.

We receive many requests for driveway gate estimates that are driven by the customers desire to keep their children safe, out of the street and clear from vehicles passing through the neighborhood.  This particular customer wanted to create an area where the children could have a concrete surface to play thus making good use of an extended driveway space.

This project involved the extension of an existing shared section of cedar fencing with the installation of a new driveway gate, pedestrian or “walk through” gate and matching fence panels.  The customer was referred to AMRI Fence by a local fabricator who was back-logged at the time and unable to prepare an estimate for this customer.

Lancaster Dwg

Prior to meeting an AMRI Fence representative, the customer and his wife visited AMRI Fence’s website and selected a standard gate offered by AMRI Fence.  The couple decided on the “Lancaster” series driveway gate, walk-through gate and matching ornamental iron fencing.  This style featured clean classical lines that could amplify the beauty of the home’s existing elevation. The customer also submitted a request for quotation via the website and provided dimensions to AMRI Fence in order to expedite the estimating process. Shortly after receiving the customers request for quotation, AMRI Fence  prepared an estimate and submitted it to the customer.

Subsequent to receipt of AMRI Fence’s estimate, the customer contacted AMRI Fence to schedule their first meeting to review the estimate and verify the measurements of the gate and fencing as well as discuss the electrical connections that would need to be made to power the gate operator.  After this initial meeting, AMRI Fence submitted a firm proposal to the customer, which was accepted by the customer.

Shortly after receipt of the order and deposit, AMRI Fence installed the gate posts and made all necessary electrical connections for the gate operator.  The gate was fabricated that same week and powder coated and installed the following week.  The total process, from initial contact to installation was approximately 3 weeks.

The customer loved the fact that entire process was quick and efficient.  The couple was excited to install a basketball goal within the new enclosure, so that their kids could begin to enjoy this newly defined play space.  As an added benefit, the overall appearance of the home with the new driveway gate was cohesive and elegant.

Double Bell Top Driveway Gate in New Territory, Sugar Land, TX

AMRI

IMG_3215 A Sugar Land homeowner contacted AMRI Fence after several failed attempts to get a driveway quote from two other vendors.  During the initial conversation, this customer expressed her belief that she was not taken seriously by the other two vendors simply because she didn’t know anything about driveway gates or style of gate that she wanted. Additionally, she stated that she was unable to meet with either company because her work hours kept her from meeting with them during their “normal” business hours.

An AMRI Fence representative allowed her to voice her frustrations and understood her concerns.  After a brief initial discussion, he was able to walk the customer thorough our process. She was relieved to hear that an initial meeting was not necessary to receive a budgetary estimate from AMRI Fence.   In fact, the representative informed her that she did not need to know the exact style of gate that she wanted but rather a have a general description frame she wanted.  The estimate could be modified as different styles and available options were reviewed.  She chose the double bell top frame and knew that she wanted the pickets to extend above and below the frame (“extended picket” style).

Carisbrooke Dwg

Over the course of one week, as the customer progressed through our process, she chose the style of finial that she wanted, determined the exact location of the driveway gate and also decided on the direction of swing for the new gate (out vs in).  Additionally, she decided to have cast iron finials welded to the pickets as opposed to using high density plastic finials which are fit over the pickets.  The only other detail left was related to the power connection for the gate operator, which requires a 120 volt receptacle that is within a few hundred feet of the operator control box.   To reduce cost, the customer’s husband attached the electrical junction box to the side of his house then drilled a small 5/8″ hole through the exterior wall to allow us to run low voltage wire to the gate operator’s transformer that was to be plugged into the 120 volt outlet in the utility room.

We understand that homeowners are very busy with their professional lives, kids and other activities.  We also know that not every potential customer knows exactly what he or she wants during the initial stages of a driveway gate project. For this reason, AMRI Fence as automated our buying process as much as possible to better accommodate the customer’s needs.  We provide a wealth of information on our website to help the customer narrow down their search and also provide free estimates based on the selection of one of our standard designs, a customer’s drawing or pictures of other gates that that are sent to us.
